Confirmed 3 Recent Converts at Church Sunday

Dear Family,

Hello Skype buddies! That was so super awesome! I absolutely loved it! Can we do it tomorrow? Just kidding! I can't wait and look forward to the next time that we do it! I really liked it! It was so fun to see everyone and hear everyone’s voices! Everyone is looking really good! That has honestly been one of my favorite parts of the mission so far! I loved it :)

This week has been really, really, REALLY busy!! On Wednesday, we had to go to the immigration place to renew my Visa in Benin. We only had to do that once, and it's good to go for a year now. In another year I will have to go there again! It was really trippy seeing a bunch of white people there. Elder Burkhart and Elder Poll and their companions came with us. We wanted to talk to the white people there but we were all awkward and didn't know what to do or say. I was trying to do lessons with Elder Shumway in English, and we literally couldn't do it because we were so used to doing them in French! It was pretty funny. After that, Elder Tshionyi and I walked, well tried, to walk home but we got lost... Haha and so we got a Taxi and figured that we were walking in the wrong direction for about 30 minutes. After we were lost, we got stranded in a building getting out of the rain for 2 hours. We were weak and didn't want to get wet! After that we had to go back today and get my visa and didn't get lost :)

Sunday we started getting stuff ready to move apartments, moving everything downstairs, and then Monday we moved the apartment. Everything went really smooth! We had the assistants truck, and a big truck that brought everything over. I will be sure to take some pictures and a video of this one as well! I actually like it more than the other one! It just feels more like a home! It's homey! If that's a word... When we went up for the first time, they were painting the hallway walls and I saw a 6 foot painting of a naked white lady.. It was pretty awesome. I was all like, "Hey Elder Leavitt, can we please keep this painting?" Joking of course... He took it down and gave it to the worker there. They were super confused on why we wouldn't want a "Beautiful" painting like that haha. We got it all taken care of! But yes we got it all done by 11:30! So we were treated by Elder Leavitt at the Famous Festival of the Glass! Which is like a Dairy Queen! It was good :) The Americans got hamburgers and we shared a Pizza. It was worth all the hard work! Watch me get transferred and not be able to enjoy it all! That'll be okay though... I didn't get any pictures of the move because I was working the whole time... :( Sorry mom! I'll try and make it up to you! But yeah the move went super good and nothing was broken or stolen! When that's the case, it's always a good day!

We confirmed our 3 recent converts at church on Sunday! We didn't last week because we all watched General Conference at the Church! It was in French though... So I can't wait for the conference Ensign that you sent me to get here! That'll be nice. They were all anxious and excited to receive the gift of the Holy Ghost! Marium is coming along well. Still just trying to teach her all the lessons and the things that she needs to know for the interview then we can start really working on her! After she is baptized and confirmed, I think she will start understanding everything. We aren't just going to baptize her to baptize here though! Haha that wouldn't be good! We fixed a date for Sergio's baptism so hopefully we will be able to make that! He is super knowledgeable of the Bible and always has a lot of questions. In one lesson he started talking about "The power of water" and started rambling on about something and I was SUPER lost! And so way my companion.. So we were just like, "We'll talk about that next time!" Haha it was funny. He laughed. All the investigators are doing really well and I know that your prayers are helping them every step of the way!

The language is coming along more and more everyday! Sometimes I will just find myself talking and having conversations with people, then afterwards realize what just happened and I cannot believe it! I know I've got a long way to go, but I've surely been blessed and will keep working HARD!! French is fun :)  I'll be able to sweep any woman off her feet when I get home with the "Language of Love" But African style... Haha. It'll still work though! So watch out ladies... 12.14.2013.... Get ready.

OH MY HECK!!!! One month from yesterday, and I will be done with the first term of my mission! Holy cow... That is freaking crazy I can't even believe myself. Time is FLYING by so fast! I was thinking to myself the other day, "If I were to go home right now, I would be super sad..." It was kind of a wakeup call for how short this service is! So I gotta kick it in the pants and get a move on! For sure... And you guys sure give me motivation out here as well!

I love every single one of you with all my heart! I hope you all have an awesome day, and I love you all SO much! God be with you till we email again.

                          Love your son,
                                               Elder Landon Dean Layton

 QUESTIONS:
1- Oh ya, you guys moved today! How did that go? How is the new place? Tell us about it...
     - Totally answered that in the Email!
2- How did you enjoy Skyping? Was it fun for you?
     - That too! Geez I’m good.
3- What was it that you guys gave to Sister Southam? We saw it but wasn't sure what it was.
     - Not that... We gave her a cloth.. Haha it's more that a cloth. It's what they make all their clothes out of out here and there are a ton of different colors and sorts and stuff. So it was fun!
4- Did you get the $20 I sent you? I hope so :)
     - I did get that! And thank you :) It was weird to see American Money! And there is no place to exchange money here... Just for future reference haha.
Me: Just send it back to me then ;)
Landon: No I think I will just hang on to it until I get home ;)
5- Did you get all moved by noon and go out to lunch with the Leavitts?
     - Um, heck yeah!!!!!
