Dear Family,
Bonjour! It is good to write to you this week! I know I know that I say it every single week, but they seem to be going by faster and faster! Which I guess is a good thing right? Haha. It is good to hear that you guys had a fun and eventful week! Those pictures brought back too many memories! I always love hanging out at Grandma and Grandpas house for the 24th! That is lame that they did it before though. I guess that it makes sense in a way. Everyone is starting to change to me now in the pictures! I think it was Emy that made me actually start to notice! My goodness she has changed a ton! Everyone has! It is going to be a trip when I get back home. And I can't believe that you guys went to Surf-N-Swim! That took me back too! I don't even remember the last time that I went, but I do remember going though! And seeing the Horns there one time haha that is way super random. I bet nothing was even close to being how it usually is without me there... I for sure bring a life to the party I guess you could say ;) Joking... But seriously.
(This is from our neighbors granddaughter. Her grandma passed away on Saturday…Will you let Landon know that my G-ma "loves him and misses seeing his sweet face! And that she will be watching over him, always" thanks so much!)
So my heart just about skipped a beat when you told me that Mary Dolder had passed away... That is really interesting, I was actually thinking about her one day in the week I can't remember which one though about how she would always wave to me when she was outside and even come over and talk to me when I was just out and about. What a sweet lady! That day actually we taught an investigator whose name is Mary! She is already helping me out! Be sure to tell Scott and their family that I am sorry to hear about it and that I know as I am sure he does that she is already doing marvelous and great things on the other side! But thank you for letting me know about that. That is so weird though that I had thought about her for like a whole day this past week! Interesting. That is good to hear that their family is doing well though. It is always good to have a family with strong testimonies in the church that know that they are going to see their mom and grandmother again.
Well as for me and this week, not much really went on... Just a lot of teaching, walking, testifying, repeat. Oh and a little more emphasis on the walking part haha. We seem to walk so much more than my other companions did! I don't think it is because we are working any harder, it's just that we don't plan our appointments very well so we walk from end to end like 6 times in one day. It makes going to bed at night nice though because I am so physically wasted! But it is all good. A little extra walkin' never hurt anyone! Okay just a little PS right now, I am sweating my face off right now! It is so HOT! My face is drenched... It rained earlier this morning and so it is SO humid right now! The fans aren't on for some reason. Just thought I would let you know that :)
So last Monday we walked passed a place that sold Bibles and I thought that I would buy me a new Bible. The bibles that the mission gives us aren't very nice. So we went there on Tuesday and I bought a Bible thinking that it would have been good. It was a nice looking bible all leather and what not. When I got back to the apartment and started to mark scriptures, I started noticing that the verses were all wrong and they didn't even mean the same thing! James 1: 5 Just said pretty much "If you need an answer, pray". Hahaha so I bought some weird easy to read version on accident and was super mad because the store was a pretty far walk and because TIA (This Is Africa) I didn't know if they were going to let me exchange it. But we went back the next day and I exchanged it for the right version. So yeah that was just a little side story that happened. Thought that I would let you know that I bought a new Bible! Which still isn't the King James Version because they don't have that in French... We use the Louise Sagond which is supposedly the most correct Bible in French. But it works for me!
Next up, my callus thing that was on the bottom of my foot. (I truly believe it is a plantar wart) It was really ticking me off one day so I decided to take matters into my own hands and dug it out with some little scissors I have in my nifty Mr. Mac nail kit. It didn't hurt at all and it is all fixed now so it is all good! I can now walk in comfort! And I found out that ever since I have had that, I have been walking funny to compensate for it causing my back to hurt all the time. So now my back doesn't hurt anymore either! So I killed two birds with one stone there. Doing good now. While I was doing it my companion thought I was doing open heart surgery and asked if I was a doctor before the mission, being totally serious, they don't really understand haha, and was freaking out telling me to call Sister Weed or go to the hospital. But since it was a callus it didn't hurt at all but I was acting like it was heck and he was freaking out haha it was hilarious. Good times, good times. But yeah I am all healthy now!
But that wasn't the case on Thursday........ Mom you cannot even get mad at me because I take my Meds every single day, but I got Malaria... It was only for a day and a half though because we have medicine that we can start after we get it authorized by Sister Weed. But yeah I did have it... It wasn't the best feeling in the world. It was the sickest I have ever felt in my life! Minus that time when we lived at Grandmas. But yeah I couldn't even get off of my bed! It was brutal! But I was fine and teaching again the next day! I am now 100 percent! The last thing I ate though was an avocado sandwich and just thinking about it makes me super sick! I probably will never eat one again. But omelets don't sound so bad anymore hahaha so that is a good thing! Send good ole Verle out here to make me an omelet! I'll put it down like a champ!
So yeah that is about all that has been going on this week... Not much has happened in our investigator pool. There is a transfer coming up next week so I will let you know any changes. I am the only missionary so far that has come in our group that is on their third companion and has been transferred... So I think that I will be here for a long time. But who knows! I love you all and I am so happy to hear that everyone is doing well. I think that I can feel the excitement of football season building here in Africa too... I can see the Braves practicing from Mill street!
Okay have a good week everyone! Love you!
