PICS: Just me and the Elders at a "Mongez-Vous"! Eating dinner at some investigators houses!
Fufu with Pate! MMMMMMMMHHHHMM
Dear Family,
Hi :) How are all of you doing? Sounds like you have had quite the productive Holiday out there in America! I am super jealous... I didn't do really anything for the 4th of July. Kind of depressing haha. That was the very first 4th of July in my life I would assume that I didn't see some sort of fireworks! How sucky is that!? I just closed my eyes and imagines them going off in my head! Haha just kidding that would be weird... I bet it has been fun having the Strong’s over as well! Well Kevin and the Girls. But that sounds like a blast! When you said that Kev hasn't been in Utah for over a year that tripped me out! He needs to make his way out there more ;) Make sure to tell him that I say hi and that I don't forget saying goodbye to him at the Portland Airport! That was sad. But like I said about that before, I am so happy that I got to go and see them before I left! It was totally worth it! That's a bummer that the boat wasn't done for the weekend... If I was there I would have driven dad to finish it faster! No just kidding! That is sad to hear about his kidney stone though! That is no fun. I remember when he passed his one before and how crapy that was. I hope I never get one.. Knock on wood! You didn't say anything about fireworks! Did you not get to see them? And I guess the ones that we always go to are the 24th ones. That will be fun I'm sure too! So yeah everything sounds like it is going really well for all of you!
As for me in Africa, things are also going well! Work is going, kinda slow, but going. Health is good, eating good. Good good good! I went on a split with Elder Cellan, the Zone Leader in Bekpota and worked Friday and left Saturday morning. It was a good learning experience and fun to work with an American! He is from Idaho and is a cowboy type of kid. I really like him, he is a good guy! Let's just hope that I never get moved to their apartment because it was NASTY Messy! Haha very gross. So I hope that I don't get mutated there. But yeah overall it was a good experience and like I said I learned a lot. A lot of stuff I have "learned" has been from my some companions who don't always do things right, so i figured out that I was doing some stuff wrong. Nothing major just little stuff here and there, but it is all good now! It is kind of hard sometimes to work with some... because some haven't really liked to work. When they do, some teach for baptisms which isn't what you're supposed to do. Taking about 45 minutes to try and explain something that should take 10 minutes tops. So I am kind of nervous when I actually become senior companion and have to lead in lessons. Some of my companions have not "let me" teach. I mean when I want to say something I say it. Or when I get an opportunity I jump on it. But most of the time it is just them teaching the whole time. So I’ve been trying to teach in my head. Thinking what I would do in this situation if I could actually teach. Haha which has been helping! I do learn a lot from them about the Bible still so that's good.
So about N***e... We went to go to her house to teach her a lesson. When we got there we were welcomed by a ticked off mom telling us to never come back to her house again to talk to her daughter. And she gave us back all our packets and book of Mormon. We asked her if we could talk with her but she refused to let us in the house. Then we tried to call her and call her but she hasn't answered! I guess this happens a lot... It was just kind of upsetting! We are going to keep pursuing her and not give up. Her mom was just a little ticked. Hopefully she will come around. Other than that little mishap, all four investigators are going really well! We are teaching a husband and wife and their little girl. They seem really interested and live in the same parcel as some members that are here and endowed in the temple. So I think that we will be able to progress really well with them! Although that's what I said about N***e... So i guess we just have to work even harder! There is a time and place for everyone right? Right!
I gave a talk in Sacrament meeting as well this past Sunday! It went really good. I think. I think back to my talk that I gave in Gbegamey and just laugh at how horrible it was! It went really well though! I spoke on the Doctrine of Christ. I only had about 5 minutes to talk though because I went last and we were short on time. But it was all good.
So yeah that's about all that happened this week... Oh yeah I did want to tell you something! When I was over at the assistants apartment, I saw a calendar that Elder McCray had. The brand was Snap Fish or something like that and his family sent it to him. I would love one.... Haha or something like one! It had pictures of his friends and family and stuff it was really cool! So that is something that you could send in a next package. But other than that, I am a happy man :) Thank you so much for the emails and all that you do for me! Know that I love you all so much and I can't wait to hear back from you next week! Love you :)

PS. That's good that you're not moving... Haha I don't know why I thought you were!

~EMAIL CHAT~
MOM: Thank you for your letter
and pictures! Did you like the pic of me with the Southams?
Elder: Yes I loved it! It was kind of weird to look at it... Haha it
was like either you were in Africa and took that picture or I have been in
America everytime I saw the Southams! It was odd to see them there! Because all
I have known of them is Africa!
MOM: Yes they are pure awesome
people. They sure love you!

The Southams just returned from their 2nd mission to West Africa. I was able to attend their Homecoming in Pleasant Grove! It was wonderful to meet them! -Michelle |
Elder: Yes that is true! How is dad doing?
MOM: He is doing well, just
hurts until it passes. If it won't pass on it's own then they can go in and
break it up so it will pass easier. Not dangerous just a pain! Ya know. But he
is good :)
Elder: Oh man that's rough!!! Make sure to tell him that I'll be prayin' for
him! How is everyone else doin? Are the Strongs still with you there?
MOM: I will tell him, thank
you! Kev went to Vegas this morning and the girls are at Kevin’s sisters house.
They will all be back on Thursday night. Friday night is the Bishop reunion at
the SDRC. The kids will have fun for sure! It's fun they are here!
How are your blisters?
Elder: I actually think that it is a planters wart....
MOM: Oh that's no fun but they
will continue to grow so please ask about that with Pres. Weed okay so it
doesn't get worse! I will look it up online.
Elder: If you could please tell **** and **** that I wrote them back
like 4 months ago, but their letters just never made it to them, that would be
GREAT! Could you do
that??
