"You will be an official representative of the Church . . . Your purpose will be to invite others to come unto Christ . . . Greater blessings and more happiness than you have yet experienced await you as you humbly and prayerfully serve the Lord in this labor of love among His children." . . . Thomas S. Monson

Rain and Roads for Rivers

One of the rivers, I mean ROADS in my sector...
I pride myself in this picture :)

 Family!!

I just started my #12 Daily Planner!! And you know what that means... Only 4 more till I am done! That means only 4 more transfers! Oh my heck! I am going to be home so soon... That is scaring me kind of a little bit but at the same time I am super stoked! Where has this last year gone?? It seriously feels like at least a month ago that I was in Togo in Ablogamé with Elder Ouonnebo! Even with Elder Ilunga! Who is home now by the way... I really can't even express how fast time is flying by out here in the mission field. Absolutely incredible. And your letter was nice! It is good to hear that everyone is doing well and is healthy. Looks like the Waterfield's house is taking up a lot of time! Which is for sure a good thing! I can see how much fun that has been! I wish I was there to help! You can just tell Sam to wait to add on the super garage that we are going to build.. I've gotta be there for that ;) And I bet that you are loving seeing Lindsay as often as  you are! But yeah everyone sounds like they are doing good! Hooray!

I know that I just got done telling you how fast the time is passing, which is true! But this last week went by pretty slow... Not gonna lie! Maybe it's because the assistants and President Weed have been coming over to our apartment to talk to the other companionship all week...  I don't know why that would make the week go by slower for me though. Something out of the ordinary I guess.  We are going to have one day in the week where we do a split with their companionship to give them a little break. My idea... (cough cough) Haha just kidding. But really. Before I forget, I don't know if dad told you or not, but I am in need of some maple syrup concentrate... So if you could throw that in the next box, that would be awesome! Thanks mama :)
*I asked him if he could get sugar to make the syrup and he said yes sugar is everywhere there. He's excited to make french toast.

In our area this week... We have found some people that have the potential to progress... With some dedicated time. Without fail, it is ALWAYS marriage that bites us in the back side! Gabriel and his wife are still having the same problems. She refuses to come to our church, and probably won't come anytime soon. We continue to pray for her to have a change of heart and come to church, just once! We have talked to them a lot in the week though and they have decided to let us baptize their two little boys, Michaque and Elisé. We are going to baptize them this Saturday I think. I'm not really sure yet... We will see how this week goes and how much Gabriel and his wife want them to be baptized.  Francise is no longer going out to Porto-Novo and we are going to baptize him this Saturday as well. I don't know why, but I don't feel like he is totally ready yet so we will have to have a really good, solid week for preparing him!

Well I don't really have much to say this week... Seeing that nothing has really happened. This upcoming week it’s gonna be the same thing too... hmm... I guess I could tell you about how I send Lucresse and Gloria to go buy me spaghetti every night because one, I am too lazy to want to cook at night, and two, in our apartment right now we all eat separately, meaning that I cook for me and just me, my comp for himself, and so on. SO the kitchen is always super messy and everyone refuses to clean after they have cooked so I just decided to avoid the kitchen and send two members to go buy me spaghetti every day! Haha it is good spaghetti too.. So that is a plus. We will see how long this goes for until I get sick of it!
Gloria on the right, and Lucresse on the left. I call her Legalis like from Lord of the Rings. This is just right outside of their house which gets flooded when the rain really starts coming down!! They are such a nice family and good members too! Their dad just recently started coming back to church! He is the one that looked for my flashy boots I'm wearing :)
Well I think that this is where I leave you for the week... I keep praying for you guys and mom I will pray that you will be able to find a good job for you and the family! Love you all and can't wait to hear from you next week!

                Love,
                          Elder Landon Dean Layton

*I asked him how last Monday went when they met to watch the general priesthood session. He said that it was raining and was so noisy that it was hard to hear with the tin roofs there.
