"You will be an official representative of the Church . . . Your purpose will be to invite others to come unto Christ . . . Greater blessings and more happiness than you have yet experienced await you as you humbly and prayerfully serve the Lord in this labor of love among His children." . . . Thomas S. Monson

I'm in Africa! Come on.. Live a little geez

Dear Family,

It is a pleasure to get to write you this week and to hear how all of your guys’ week was as well. It doesn't sound like there is much going on to be honest... And I am not really missing out on anything! So I am not really worried about that. That is cool that the Dolders are selling their house! Maybe a hot chick will move in. Easy marriage set up. I wouldn't have to drive so far to get to her house. Gas prices these days will getcha. Nah I don't even knowThere will be a lot of neighbors that I won't know when I get back eh!? But that is exciting that Ky is getting up her salon in their basement! That will probably be the first place I get my next real hair cut! I am growing my hair out again... But you guys can't see it because I don't trust these computers at all. Too much crap on ‘em! So the next time you will be seeing this pretty kids face is in person! That is funny about the shampoo bowl and chair! Inside, I just knew that I didn't really need to sell it. So when you kept telling me to re post it and re post it, (on ksl.com) I knew that it would come in handy one of these days! And now look! It is! Whoo! As for the other stuff in the storage unit... I don't know what to tell ya. Ha! That is crazy to hear about Jordan's disease... (Jordan was just diagnosed with Celiac and now must eat Gluten Free) That doesn't make it sound very good though at all haha calling it a disease. We can call it a little malady! How is that? Gluten doesn't really taste good anyways... So there is no loss on her part ;)

This week was a week of just straight up work... Nothing really exciting happened. Other than the fact that I hit my 150 day mark last Thursday! Yahoo! And today is the mark of 20 more weeks! That means only 20 more Sundays of taking care of amis that come to church! Gotta stay focused though... That is the most important thing! Stay focused! Ty told me that he just started his last transfer... That is so insane! I cannot believe how fast time is going! That means that Taylor is almost home too!  I am sure that he is doing good though! On Thursday, I went on a companion exchange with Elder Gunderson! So you and his mom can have like a huge party together about that.. You two trouble makers! (Who's he calling "Trouble Makers" Kari??? Us?? Not us! ;) It was really good to get to know him more than I did before. He is a really good missionary, but hasn't had the best of luck with some of his companions. We had to take care of some stuff that was going on between them, but it is all good now! At least we hope so. I got to go eat at Akif's (hamburger fast-food restaurant) as well for the first time since I have been back in Togo and it was absolutely amazing! I thought that I was going to die from eating so much though... Needless to say, I might have to pull some personal money out to make it through the rest of this month haha. I hope that's okay..... I'm in Africa! Come on.. Live a little geez. And this next Thursday I will be going to work in my old branch! Ablogamé! I won't be working in my old sector though... That will have to come a little later. But I am still going to go see Agathe at her house! I am super excited! I will be sure to take some pictures.. That you will see when I get home. Haha. I bet that is killing you! It'll all be worth it.

So we have this recent convert and he is pretty... Interesting. He is still really into his old ways that he followed in his old church. So sometimes he does things that are kind of "outlandish" I guess you could say. When the Branch president announced that he was going to give a talk, I looked up at my companion and he looked up at me, then we both looked up at him and he just had this grin on his face... We were scared. When he gave his talk, it wasn't a talk at all... It was a straight up Preacher sermon! He started off by shouting into the mic, "Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Amen!" Then when no one replied, like they apparently do in other churches, he said, "You have to say amen!" Then started over again.. "Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Amen!" Then like 10 people in the congregation shouted "Amen" back.. I was dying of trying not to laugh!  Heck I did laugh! My eyes were watering and everything! I was dying! Haha it was hilarious! Then he gave his whole talk in Mina so I didn't understand it.. But he kept shouting "amen" and raising his hands. Ah I wish you could have seen it... Next time I don't even care, I am going to record it! TIA :)

I know that I told you that I would tell you why I have chosen Jacob 6:12 as the scripture that I am going to base my life off of... But unfortunately, the P-Diddy and Eminem that this Cyber is reppin' isn't really letting the spirit come in as easily as I would like it to! I will write something up at the apartment during the week and then send it in my email next Monday! I really like it! But that is really all that is going on here in the mission... We are going to have a Zone conference on the 9th, and a Zone Leader council on the 7th... Just so you know haha. You can be up to date with my schedule! And we are going to see someone named Yolland Tuesday at 3:00pm... So make sure you pencil that it! No but really thank you for your weekly letters and all that you do for me! You guys make it really easy to stay positive all the time! I wouldn't be able to do it all without your support. I have already told you that there are some missionaries here in the mission that don't have that support and I think that that would be so tough to deal with! So thank you all for everything that you do! You guys are awesome! I will let you go now.. Have a good week and know that the Lord loved you! And that I love you too!

                           Love,
                                    Elder Landon Dean Layton
