Dear Family,

| At Centerville Park after the "W" |
Today is exactly my two months left
mark! Do you know how incredibly short that is!? It is so short. Too short
even... I know that it is going to fly by. Thank you for your letter! It is
always fun to hear how everyone is doing. That is awesome about dad's team
winning their game!
Shutout... Sounds like it went pretty good! And Shelby's
new car! (Remember the red one she wrecked after
having it for 2 days? Dean took the motor out of that one and put it in a blue
one that needed a new motor. He's pretty genius like that!)

I am super jealous! It looks really good! I'm sure
she will love driving that around more than her other little car! I am sure
that she has already heard it from about every other member of the family, but
I gotta say it to. Shelby, don't crash this one! Haha just kidding. That stuff
happens. Just not twice in a row... By the look of the picture of all you guys
at Centerville Park, it looks like all the leaves are changing and looking cool
up in the mountains! That has got to be one of my favorite times of the year
for sure! Has dad or anyone been doing any duck hunting this year or no? Heaven
knows that I will be next year for sure! Thanks for updating my blog every week
too! I bet that that is a lot of work to do every week, but I know that you
love doing it! Like you said last week, I will still write you an email every
Monday even after I get home, and you can blog that ;) (What’s with the wink? That will be his rent while living here. Ha!
While you’re living under my roof, my rules! ;))
This week has been a pretty eventful
one! With transfers, new companions and just changes, it has been a busy week!
Elder Dagrou got here last Tuesday, along with Elder Faerber. I can't find my
card reader to send you pictures though... So, hopefully next week. But I
worked with Elder Dagrou, and Elder Ranto worked with Faerber for the two days
that we were four. My companion left Thursday morning, leaving us three in the
apartment. We have been working in a threesome since then. It has been pretty
normal. Elder Faerber is just getting to know his area and the amis that my
companion and I were able to keep in contact with the missionaries. Being with
Elder Dagrou is just as good as it was when I was with him the first time! He
is for sure gonna keep me working right up to the last day of my mission! He is
a hard working missionary for sure. Elder Faerber's companion gets here next
Wednesday, along with all of the 20 new missionaries. Our zone will be the
biggest zone in the mission with around 20 missionaries... The work is growing
rapidly here in Togo!
This Saturday was our baptismal service!
On Friday nights, we have our coordination meeting with our branch missionary
leader, and we were pretty bamboozled on how we were going to get all these
people to the chapel in Kiegé... Because it is super far away, and that is where
the baptisms always happen. The three of us, with Kossi, his wife and two kids,
got in one taxi all together, and Sandra and her niece Melissa, the one that
got baptized, went with the branch president on his moto, and François and his
family found their way themselves.. Unfortunately for Eric, we had to push
his baptismal date back a little later because he was having some problems with
some stuff. But I think that his heart is in the right place and he is going to
be able to enter into the waters or baptism soon! So my heck! Fofo went to the
village again this weekend to go get his marriage papers... So I called him last
night to see how it went, and he said that he didn't do the dote, he just paid
a little bit of it, and there is a lot that is left... So Fofo, with no job,
will not be getting baptized while I am here. I
think that we are going to baptize his kids though... I dunno though. We are
going to talk to him about it probably tomorrow night. I'll let you know how
that all goes...
For Priesthood Quorum this last Sunday,
the Elders Quorum President asked me if I would give the lesson, because it was
on missionary work. (Chapter 19: Missionary Work: “To Reach Every Human Heart” ) It was actually my companion that accepted, but knowing
that he wouldn't even be here to do it, he dumped it onto me! How lame is that!
Haha little dirt bag! Nah but I was okay with it. It went really good! And you
said that you gave the same lesson, so that is like, mother and son giving the
same lesson on two different continents! Pretty cool eh? It happens sometimes
that the same Sunday, you are asked to give a talk or teach a lesson because
someone didn't show up or they weren't ready... So it is just something that I
have gotten used to. Oh yeah and I saw Elder Oliverson on Tuesday and Saturday!
It is always fun to see and talk with him. We will have to take a picture and
send it to your guys... I was pretty ticked when I found out that I wasn’t
living with him... Ah well though, you can't have everything in this world.
Except for December 15th... Then that will be pretty close!
Well this is where I leave you this
week... I love you all. Love your support and prayers as well. I am very
grateful for the amazing family and group of friends I have back in the
states... You guys are the best.
Love,
Elder
Landon Dean Layton
PS,
Sorry, no photos.
Next time. Maybe. Hopefully.
I asked him if he used a lace tablecloth too and decorated his table with fall leaves and pumpkins and he said no but he did have 3 guys role play and said it was pretty epic! I told him I wish I was a fly or a mosquito on his wall watching and he said either one would work and that I would of had a great view as both are in abundance there. He continues to amaze me with his awesome, happy attitude! Oh how I love that boy and can not wait to give him the BIGGEST hug! -Michelle
