"You will be an official representative of the Church . . . Your purpose will be to invite others to come unto Christ . . . Greater blessings and more happiness than you have yet experienced await you as you humbly and prayerfully serve the Lord in this labor of love among His children." . . . Thomas S. Monson

Letter #2

Dear Family,
I just wrote you a letter earlier today but got your other letter after so I will answer back. I really do love getting your dear elder letters everyday. It makes it a lot easier towards the end of the night when I'm not doing much. They don't have to be much  and I know it will be hard to do everyday but I understand. It keeps me busy and thinking. That's really what I look forward to everyday! The french is going really good so far! Really rough the second day but better today. The food is filling but nothing special. I would kill for some of Dirty Dean's BBQ right about now! I think there are a total of 5 missionaries going to Benin here right now. I just can't wait till week 2 because they say it is a lot easier and stuff just starts to flow. Make sure to tell Kevin thank you for that letter and it really meant a lot to me! Aunt Debbie too! Please send a few pics of the family that I can pin up on my wall along with any others that you think I might like.My writing is everywhere haha. They say it is best to print the pictures here and then send them home. I seem to have everything I need except those earplugs...seriously! I have slept a total of 2 and a half plus hours the whole time. Makes me wanna cry haha.
Well here is my testimony in French. JE SAIS QUE LE LIVRE DE MORMON, EST VRAI! ET, JE SAIS QUE JOSEPH SMITH A E'TE' UN JE'SUS-CHRIST VA NOS BENIR AVEL LE DON DE LANEUES. JE SAIS QUE LE SAINT-ESPIRIT NOVS ENSEIGNGE AU TRAVERS DE JE'SUS-CHRIST, AUNOM DE JE'SUS-CHRIST, AMEN!
I love you all!! Miss you, can't wait to hear back!
-Elder Layton
*I have a feeling that I butchered typing his testimony in French! ;)
