Dear Brothers and Sisters,
My name is Elder Greg Haws. My wife and I are from Hooper, Utah and are serving in the Africa West Area Office on a two year mission.
Last weekend we were in Benin and went to church with yours sons and their companions. It was a challenge for us as the meetings were in French and we speak no French. We were in Benin to provide training to the local brethren on their financial duties as we are assistants to the Area Auditor.
We found your sons happy, healthy and in great spirits. The branch has a lot of missionaries as they are just about to split into two branches.
We took a couple of pictures of the group and President Weed.
I am attaching two other pictures to make you smile. The country is really trying to clean up, so everyone must do their part. Also, this motorcycle is typical of the "Taxis" in use in Benin.
You would have been so proud of your sons as we saw them in action, working with the branch members, directing their investigators, and all of them bore their testimonies in Sacrament meeting, in French, of course.
This is a hard mission but it appeared to us your sons are literally "bearing the burden in the heat of the day" for which both they and you will be blessed.
Thanks for your love and support to your missionary. Know that we pray for them daily and all of the senior missionaries try to look out for the younger missionaries when we can. But if the truth were know, they look out for us.
Elder Haws
Thank you, THANK YOU, to Elder Haws for his thoughtfulness in sending this email! It was so much fun to wake up to this morning AND the first pictures we have seen of Elder Layton in his new area of Benin! :)
